Designed Outdoor Rooms

Full Outdoor Living Space

Overview

Our signature project is a full outdoor living space: a paver patio, retaining or seat walls, steps, a fire feature, and connecting walkways planned as one designed project rather than a list of separate installs. Every project starts with the design phase, where we measure the property, develop the layout, and build a 3D preview you approve before construction begins.

Because the whole space is designed together, elevations, drainage, sight lines, and traffic flow work as a single plan. The result is an outdoor room that fits your home and the way you actually gather, cook, and relax — not a patio with features bolted on later.

If you are weighing a phased approach, the design phase maps the complete vision first so each stage builds toward the same finished space.

Full Outdoor Living Space FAQs

Common questions from homeowners planning hardscape projects in Southeast Michigan.

A full outdoor living space combines a paver patio, retaining or seat walls, steps, a fire feature, and connecting walkways into one designed project. Rather than pricing each element separately, we plan the whole space together so elevations, drainage, and traffic flow work as a single system. Even a minimal version — patio, a seat wall, and a walkway link — is planned with the complete vision in mind.

Cost depends on the size of the patio, the amount of wall and step work, the fire feature, and site conditions like grade and access. Smaller combination projects come in lower, and larger multi-zone layouts can exceed a typical complete-space project. You receive firm pricing in the installation proposal after the design phase, so there are no estimates built on guesswork.

A designed outdoor room has to solve elevations, drainage, sight lines, and furniture space before the first paver is set. During the design phase we measure the property, develop the layout, and build a photorealistic 3D preview you can walk through and revise. You approve exactly what will be built, and the design becomes the basis for a firm installation proposal. A design service fee applies at this stage.

Yes. Many families start with the patio and walls, then add the fire feature or walkway connections in a later season. Because the design phase maps the complete space first, each phase is built to the same plan — base depths, elevations, and material selections stay consistent, so the finished project reads as one space rather than a series of add-ons.

Construction typically runs one to three weeks depending on the scope, site access, and Michigan weather. Multi-level layouts with significant wall work take longer than a single-level patio with a seat wall. We schedule base work around dry windows for proper compaction and keep you updated if weather shifts a phase.
